Try the following:
Charge it to a full charge (4 - 5 hours).
Make sure to disconnect the charger - it will not turn on while plugged into the charger.
Press the button one time and release. You do not need to hold it down while using the corer.
There is a learning curve when you are switching from a manual corer - but once you get the hang of it, you won't be able to do without it! Here are some beginner's tips:
Do NOT try to pierce vegetable while the blade is turning. Before turning on your Insta-Corer, make a small dent in the tip of your vegetable to give the blade something to grip. This can also be done by slightly pushing the blade into the vegetable, THEN turning it on.
Do NOT rotate the Insta-Corer until the blade fully enters the vegetable.
Do NOT use large motions as you would with a manual corer. Rotate gently and let the Insta-Corer do most of the work!
Grab the bar that the blade is attached to and give it a little tug - it should come right out!
The stainless steel blade is dishwasher-safe. Do not place the actual corer handle in the dishwasher - wipe it down with a wet cloth and dry.
Although lithium batteries provide a lot of power, they can become dormant when left unused or uncharged for long periods. To maintain the health of your Insta-Corer's battery when not in use, charge it once every 3 months.
